Chapter 5: 10
Temptations and their treatment (3)

Third: God sympathized with Lot and brought him out of Sodom
Although Lot did not learn from God’s previous warning through the captivity and when He returned him safely back to Sadom, God has not abandoned Lot; and had mercy on him as he took him out of Sodom before destroying it.

On the way of rescuing Lot from Sodom, God, through his grace, has sent him two angels to get him out, even though He did not join them as He did when He went by Himself to Abraham. God may not agree with some events in our life and thus He might not be in deep fellowship with us; but this does not prevent His grace and His interfering in our lives to rescue us when we are in trouble.

The two angels preferred to spend the night in the yard rather than entering Lot’s house. Yet after his pressure they accepted to get in and they dealt with him through Grace several times:

-At the moment when Lot was unable to deal with the wicked people surrounding his house, the two angels pulled Lot inside and locked the door and they smote everyone with blindness, so that they couldn’t find the door.

-They dealt with him through grace again when they asked him to escape from Sodom with his family and in laws before the city is destroyed. “Have you anyone else here? Son-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city—take them out of this place!  For we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the LORD, and the LORD has sent us to destroy it.” ( Genesis 19: 12-13).

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant when Lot started to lag and postpone his departure from Sodom, the angels hurried him up and laid hold upon his hand and those of his wife and daughters.

"When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying, “Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city.” And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife’s hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the LORD being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city” (Genesis 19:15-16).

That’s how the Lord deals with us; He deals with us through his grace many times in order to return us back to Him. He bears the foolishness of our hearts and the obstinacy of our souls; He pities us and attracts us to Him with His love and through the dealings of his grace.

Dear reader: the two angels’ call for Lot “ESCAPE FOR YOUR LIFE” is the same call that God sends it to you. Sodom and Gomorrah and all the earth will be burned up. The Bible says: "The elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” (2 Peter 3:10).  All events around us, politically, economically, climatically and spiritually declare that the coming of the Lord is near and He is at the doors.

I ask you to respond to God’s voice to you and to His hands that want to get you out of your immersion in this wicked present world.
If God is dealing with you these days to let you return to Him or if you feel that He is talking to you through this message and that He is appealing your heart to return to Him, I ask you and encourage you to respond to this call: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts” (Hebrews 3:15).
