Chapter 2: 7
Practical Excerpts

and Prayer

Practical Excerpts

• Do not be afraid of changing circumstances, or for material needs.  While “There are many who say,” Who will show us any good?” (Psalm 4: 6), you can say, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23: 1). And “The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing” (Psalm 34: 10).

• Do not be afraid of the wickedness of people nor fear the injustice of people, whether in business or in your relationships.  No matter what man may do to you, this is the will of God in your life. “For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together  to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done” (Acts 4: 27, 28).

• Do not look at what is happening to you now.  It may be deemed evil. But wait until the links in the chain of Divine Care are made complete, and you will find good. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8: 28).

• Lift up your eyes away from the changing circumstances around you, and set them on the unchangeable Lord who is with you. He did not promise us a life free from trouble, but promised to be with us in the trouble. “I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him” (Psalm 91: 15).

• Do not look at the troubles of the world around you… wars, earthquakes, epidemics and famine.  Do not tremble and fear, but raise your eyes to heaven, for the Lord is coming soon, and we will be with him. “And there was no more sea” (Revelation 21: 1).  When the world is troubled, always remind yourself: “Maranatha!  O Lord, come!” (1 Corinthians 16: 22).

Prayer

O Lord, teach me to seek refuge in the shadow of Your work and redemption on the cross for me.

Help me to find refuge in You, O Ark of Rescue, from the floods of judgment.

Let me trust in the power of the blood that was applied to the two doorposts and above the door.

Let me believe that You incurred and carried all my sins.  There is therefore now no condemnation on me, since I am in You, O Rock of Ages.

Help me to hide in the Pavilion of Your Divine shelter and protection.

Let me dwell in Your secret place and abide under Your shadow so that I won’t fear the winds around me.

Help me not to fear anything, for You preserve my going out and my coming in and You preserve me from all evil.

Let me keep holding on to the shield of faith, which extinguishes all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

O Lord, teach me to stand firm on the rock of Your care and the power of Your authority.

For You are the Rock, and all Your works are perfect.

For You are the one who lifts me up above the circumstances; and I will not fear circumstances, or the instability of the situation, or changeable mankind.

For no matter how high the waves may rise, You are stronger.

You remain the same, and Your years will never end.

The Almighty God is our refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
